Today’s
parents and grandparents will raise the generation
of patriots which will lift our country from the
ashes. This Independence Day, focus your attention
on America’s birth certificate as it contains the
most profound prose in all of our founding
documents.
Thomas Jefferson was a genius who’s carefully chosen
words forever changed the world; a fact the left
tries to tarnish by saying he owned slaves.
Progressivism is an ideology so polar opposite to
the liberty principles Jefferson laid out in his
“Declaration of Independence” I am surprised
collectivists even celebrate the holiday. It is a
bit hypocritical to wave America’s colors on the
fourth and then return to the task of destroying our
nation on the fifth, but members of the ruling class
do it year after year. Go figure; now let me get
back to my point.
The first sentence of the second paragraph in our
Declaration of Independence is where Jefferson
defines America’s uniqueness. It reads: “We hold
these truths to be self-evident, that all men are
created equal, that they are endowed by their
Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among
these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of
Happiness.” When we tear that sentence apart we see
why American freedom was and still is the most
revolutionary concept in history.
First, “self-evident” truths are obvious, so much so
they need no explanation. Secondly, Jefferson
acknowledges it was God who created all mankind
equal, giving each a right to life, liberty and the
pursuit of happiness. This was profound as up until
1776, the entire world believed rights were bestowed
or revoked based on the whims of kings. The idea of
rights coming directly from God was truly earth
shattering. Progressives, not fans of God as
demonstrated by them booing Him at the 2012 Democrat
National Convention, have purposely deceived
Americans into thinking big government is the true
deity and origin of rights. This is inherently evil
because rights from government, unlike those from
God, can only be bestowed after taking stuff from
someone else. Paul speaks adoringly of the ruling
class when they rob Peter to pay Paul—Peter not so
much. As today’s supreme rulers speak of rights to a
living wage, amnesty, paid family leave and food for
all, Peter has no choice but to press his nose a
little harder into the grindstone. He is a slave
with a government master differing from those at
Monticello only in that Jefferson’s were freed in
1863. Peter’s bondage is permanent.
Thirdly, an American’s “right to life” and “liberty”
is where we find our fundamental right to use
whatever tool and force is necessary to protect our
lives and freedom and the lives and freedom of
others. Contrary to the conventional wisdom, it is
not the Second Amendment which grants us the right
to keep and bear arms; it is the Declaration of
Independence. The Constitution and Bill of Rights
are actually a restraining order blocking government
from infringing on rights given us by God. This
difference is paramount.
Lastly, is the “pursuit of happiness.” Here we find
the right to risk, own property, start a business,
raise a family, accumulate wealth or debt, bury your
bounty in your backyard, or give it all away. The
word “pursuit” is the key. Notice Jefferson did not
say the government will guarantee you happiness and
equality of outcome—purely principles of Marxism
which did not appear until 1848. The progressive
concept those sitting on the sofa are entitled to
the wealth produced by those sweating in the fields
is theft even under the catchy slogan “income
inequality.”
If America would have held to Jefferson’s words we
would not be in the pickle we are today. We did not.
President Woodrow Wilson introduced America to the
principles of Marx and Engels between 1913 and 1921.
President Roosevelt’s Social Security is wealth
redistribution on steroids and LBJ further tightened
the chains of bondage with Medicaid and Medicare in
1965. President Obama has the honor of driving the
death nail called Obamacare into the coffin of
American liberty. Because we failed, it will be our
descendants who will lift our nation from the
progressive ash heap.
